Speyside is the home of the largest number of distilleries in Scotland – with 51 distilleries working! Over 50% of the total amount of distilleries in Scotland are located in Moray Speyside and so often is called “Malt Whisky Country”. This perfect weather contributes to the growing of barley which when combined with the water of the River Spey, produces the “Water of Life” usually lighter and sweeter than other Scotch single malts.
