This course helps people recognise where lasting peace and happiness can be found. Society teaches us that we are our mind/bodies, and we are therefore limited and temporary. If that is what I believe about myself, I will constantly try to find happiness in objective experience. From this perspective, nothing can be permanent. And I get it - nothing in our experience lasts forever! Thoughts and feelings come and go, relationships keep changing, the world is in constant flux. Seeing that it is the case, however, we have a choice: either keep the same perspective that kept us stuck and unhappy, or try something different. What about looking at a non-object to find lasting happiness? The non-object I am suggesting here is Consciousness itself. Right now, you are conscious of the experience of reading these words. In fact, whatever you are experiencing, you are conscious of it - otherwise, there wouldnt be an experience. Take the perspective of Consciousness to find answers: - Does Consciousness suffer when an experience is over, or does it simply embrace the next experience as it arises, remaining just as conscious of it as it always is? - Does Consciousness ever become lost in a single experience, or is it just as conscious of it as it is conscious of anything arising? - Does Consciousness say no to any experience, or does it allow it fully, just as it is? Consciousness never becomes a limited object, self, or world. This course reminds you of what is true, and helps you remain in the present, constantly.
