There are loads of skateparks in London to choose from, all of them tried and tested by the resident experts (and your tutors for the day) at Skates and Ladders. You can customise your city lesson to your preferred location requirements. Bring along your own skateboard, longboard or penny board along, or your instructor can provide one free of charge – they’ll be happy to advise on what would be best for you if you’re unsure, and a helmet and pads will be included too. Your coach for the day will be one of the experienced skaters at Skates and Ladders, who’ll travel to whichever park suits you best. Your lesson will be tailored exactly how you want it by the skateboarding pro that’ll be your tutor for the session, from skatepark location to the skills you want to try and if you need it, even the equipment you’d like to use. The lessons vary from helping beginners with the basics of riding a skateboard and gaining confidence on the board, to helping more advanced skaters develop their own individual style, giving them the opportunity to learn more advanced tricks like Pop-Shuvits and Kickflips, and gaining more experience on ramps, bowls and pools. By the end of the lesson you’ll walk away with a new found appreciation for what your own feet can do. Where does the experience take place? Participant guidelines Minimum age: under 16s must be accompanied by an adult You must have a reasonable level of fitness The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary according to location Availability Vouchers are valid for 9 months from the date of issue Lessons are available on selected weekdays and weekends, mornings, afternoons and evenings throughout the year. We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure a date is available. All bookings are subject to availability. Please allow approximately 1 hour for the whole experience. What should I wear? For your skateboard lesson it is advised you wear skateboard shoes or any flat soled shoes (no open toe shoes or heeled shoes) and wear comfortable clothes. You are more than welcome to bring your own skateboard, pads and helmet. But if you don’t have any of your own equipment, this can be provided for the lesson (please request this when booking). What about the weather? Bad weather may affect your experience. Skates and Ladders does conduct lessons in wet weather, so if you would prefer not to have your lesson in the rain, we recommend setting a back-up under cover location at the time of booking. If your experience cannot take place due to extreme weather, an alternative date/location will be offered to you. You are advised to contact Skates and Ladders 48 hours before your experience. Additional information It is advised you take a bottle of water or soft drink with you. What about insurance? The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence. A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
