Highland Buses: From Oban to Inverness (UK ed.)
Highland Omnibuses was founded in 1952 as part of the state-owned Scottish Bus Group that operated services throughout Scotland. The company was created from the merger of Highland Transport, Macrae & Dick and Alexanders Town Services and from its base in Inverness ran services throughout the Highlands, from Thurso and Wick in the far north through Fort William to Oban in the south, and west to Kyle of Lochalsh and the ferry to Skye. Highland Omnibuses operated the majority of services, but MacBraynes (although primarily a ferry company) were also involved, as were smaller independent companies. In this unique collection of images taken almost entirely by the author and dating mostly from the 1960s and 1970s, when Highland Omnibuses was at its peak, John Sinclair provides a window into the past of the isolated communities served by these buses as well as many photographs of the stunning Highland landscapes. 204 Illustrations, unspecified
