This is volume 1 only. Published in 1807, this book contains a sizable collection of poems by various writers, some famous and others obscure. This collection was edited by Robert Southey, who also wrote the preface and the brief biographies of the poets. This is a leather copy with panelled boards, as well as gilt lettering on the covers and spine. Condition: the boards suffer from moderate to severe shelf-wear and bumping, while the spine shows some heavy tearing. The head and tail of the spine are both severely bumped. The book’s edges display some denting and marking. The interior pages are marked and foxed in some places. All the text is legible and the binding is fairly strong, although the front board has become slightly loose. Overall, this book is in fair condition.
