As you will see from our photographs this book was obviously loved and adored, as the fabric cover has become faded on both sides and there are various \"markings\" around the edges along with the corners being bumped, the spine has some small tears at the top and the fabric has been affected by the sun. As you open up the cover there is some pencil writing along the top of the frontispiece page and the binding is loose but none of the pages have escaped. Some of the pages do have red pencil underlining some of the words, and there appears to be markings around edges of the illustrations, but all of the coloured pictures are really lovely, charming, colourful and seemingly undamaged, by the illustrator S. B. Pearse, who is best known for painting all of the pictures for this series.Author Eleanor Farjeon (is one of the many who participated in this series) has written a joyful children\'s story where Ameliaranne is helping her mother with the washing, only for it to go disastrously wrong.
