Blue clothed board covers with gilt lettering to the front and spine is in very good condition. Some fading and slight smudging to the front, rubbing and bumping to the corner and edgings. There is an inscription and owners label to the front paste down - \'Geoff Hoyle\'. The same name is also pencilled marked on page 106 \'Corporal John Hoyle killed\'. The pages are clean overall and the binding is good overall with slight cracking in a few places (see photo). There is light foxing to a few pages and these are restricted to page edges. The colour plates (20) and maps (12) are all bright and clean.
