Published in 1901 by George Newnes Ltd as part of The Caxton Series, in a Limited Edition of 105, of which this is number 85. (Note that in the same year, George Newnes published another Limited Edition of this work, in a run of 30 copies, in a binding by Chivers of Bath - the book here offered is not part of that Limited Edition). This edition, with illustrations by H. Granville Fell, is on \"O.W. paper\" (OW were producers of quality paper for painting and fine art printing). The book is quarter bound in cream leather over paper covered boards, the darkened leather spine bearing gilt titling. The covers are stained, particularly the rear board. There is some loss of the leather (approx. 3 mm) at the head of the spine, the tail of the spine is crushed, and there is a split (approx. 14 mm) at the front spinal margin. The lower corners are bumped. The upper page edges are gilt, the other page edges rough cut, and all edges are a bit dusty. The bookplate of a previous owner is glued to the front pastedown, as is a very small bookseller\'s label. The front and rear end papers are tanned. Two pages early on in the book are dog-eared, otherwise the pages are clean and tightly bound. The book is signed by the illustrator, H. Granville Fell. This is a scarce book, which is in overall good condition.
