The text is accompanied by 400 wood cuts, some intra-textual and some being text-free in the form of an appendix. Condition: The covers are very worn and stained. The text cover has partly pulled away from the spine. The binding is in a very fragile state and several signatures and individual pages are in the process of pulling - or have already pulled - away from the binding. Edges soiled and ragged. Written dedication on the pastedown and literary quote in French on the reverse of the fly leaf (in pencil). The textblock is free of annotations etc.
