Hardback with black cloth boards and titles in gilt to spine in very good condition, with minor bumping to spine. Ex-Library copy with usual stamps. Dust wrapper, clipped, also in very good condition, particularly bright front cover. Shelf wear, including a 1 cm tear to the top of the spine and foxing along back fold.  Text block very clean and bright, but light foxing along top edge. 12 black and white plates throughout text, one as frontispiece. Includes footnotes, sources, notes and index.
