This is not written to any cookery book formula, but rather a littering of advice for good practice in the kitchen, with suggestions for dressed crabs thrown into ordinary prose. It makes for frustrating reading if anyone were to follow this to any practical capacity, but makes for charming reading as Earl\'s writing manner almost verges on parody. \"In the class of households I am considering, a cook and a house-parlourmaid may be regarded as the available staff of servants, with perhaps a girl for rough work.
