Academic writing providing a critical guide to the wide field of the Middle English romances, providing a helpful survey of the state of scholarship at the time of publication. Hardback in green boards, with a lighter green dust jacket. Includes an errata slip noting that the date of publication was pushed back to 1969 due to delays in publishing.  Condition is good, there are a few open tears at the top of the dustjacket and moderate shelfwear at the top of the spine. There are a few light pencil marks throughout the book where it has been used for study.
