All Stations to Malta by Gilbert Hackforth-Jones
This saga of Lieutenant-Commander Paul Dexter\'s doings as Captain of the Commander-in-Chief\'s yacht attached to the Mediterranean Fleet is something of a follow-up to the same character\'s adventures in far eastern waters described in Chinese Poison. It takes place in the \'doldrum years\' between the wars at a period when the Royal Navy was still at leisure to rejoice in the Pax Britannica before the rise of European dictators obliged it once again to face up to the prospect of another struggle. It tells of the doings of rich aristocrats, power-drunk admirals, and naval officers and their crews, who in spite (or because) of their meagre emoluments still managed to \'take delight in simple things and mirth that has no bitter springs\' (Kipling). At least there was very little bitterness and a fair amount of hilarious happenings whenever and wherever Paul Dexter and his chum \"Mack\' Sennett were around. In generally very good condition with some bumps to edges and scuffs to dust jacket.
