First edition of rare volume of Tolstoy’s Resurrection, translated by Mrs Louise Maude originally published in 13 penny parts and bound in one volume in 1900. The proceeds of this publication went to aid the Doukhobors who fled persecution in Russia and settled in Canada. Binding is original wood effect paper with gilt lettering. Cover is stained, worn at the edges and with a tear to the bottom of the spine and bottom corner of back. Hinge of title page becoming detached and some inside hinges weak. Pages yellowed but clean. This edition also has advertisements for other works by Tolstoy.
