Hardback, 1698, Charles Brome. The Snake in the Grass or Satan Transformed into an Angel of Light was first published by the author in 1696 as a denunciation of the Quakers. This later edition has the original calf bound boards tooled with a contemporary decoration. The boards are detached from the spine and in a worn condition but intact. There is some sellotaped repair to the front free endpaper and fly leaf which is torn. Back free endpaper also torn. Pages are foxed but still attached to the hinges. There is an inscription in ink inside front endpaper and an owner’s inscription dated 1816 on fly leaf
