Letters of Junius Vol. II
Volume Two of what appears to be the First Edition of 1772.This celebrated series of letters appeared under the pen name of Junius in the columns of the Public Advertiser between 1769 and 1771. Junius\'s letters derided the political leaders of the time, including the K George III, often using \"inside knowledge\". The pseudonymous author has never been firmly identified, but it has been suggested that he was Sir Philip Francis, clerk to the War Office 1762 -1772.Book condition good to very good - see photos. Binding is very tight. Pages clean, with only a little tanning. Heavier tanning at top, bottom and sides of title page and end papers. Boards covered with a hard smooth, slightly shiny material. One small worn section at top of spine. Previous owner\'s name in ink written with a very fine pen on front end paper.
