The Moseley Church of England National School: A History 1828 - 1969 by Fred Price
This is an account of the history of a school started in Moseley for the children of servants and labourers. St Mary\'s Chapel and the rich landowners of the district raised funds to build and run the School. No help was given by Government for many years. Some financial assistance became available through successive Education Acts, but the Managers of the School finally had to agree to it becoming a Controlled School, whereby the Church effectually relinquished all powers, and Government money enabled improvements to be made to the old School, and eventually enabled a new school to be built. The reputation of the Moseley Church of England School has been very high for many years, with long waiting lists, and it has headed the Birmingham League Tables for primary schools for the last two years.Day to day running until 1969, when the school moved to new buildings, has been described in some detail. Perhaps there may be a message here for some present day educationists
