To mark the occasion of M + R\'s tenth anniversary, the Eindhoven office decided to publish a book with an overview of their work and their vision on it. The strikingly designed book contains a generous amount of visual material, substantively supported by texts by various professionals and by M + R itself.Ten years of designing public spaces has not only resulted in a wide range of projects, but it has also shaped and sharpened the M + R\'s vision of their profession. In their own essay, founders Marie-Louise Rooijmans and Hans Maréchal delve deeper into the dilemmas and conclusions of this first decade. They see the interior architect as the director of a complicated design process, in which the user (the visitor or resident) should be central. How this works out in practice is discussed in publications by and interviews with various journalists and clients. The many beautiful photos and plans give a good impression of the results.According to M + R, the interior architect must constantly maintain a dynamic balance between the personal and the public. This tension lies in the title of the book, Portrait + Landscape. The two concepts also served as a guideline in the design of the book.
