Caroline Bray, better known as Cara, was a writer of children\'s stories and instructional volumes. In this book, she discusses the needs and attributes of many different animals - domestic, farm and wild - and urges the reader to look after and respect them. Bray was a strong supporter of the Society for the Protection of Animals.This book is undated but believed to be a first edition. It is in unfortunately very poor condition, with stained and rubbed boards, stained and torn endpaper and missing flyleaf to front and rear. Pages are stained and foxed throughout, though still legible. There are also some pencil notations in some places, most notably to the pastedown and 69. Pages 37-40 have a large chunk missing (approx 9 x 7.5 cm) to the upper corner. Pages 59-68 have been removed. Page 87/88 is torn to the edge. Page 79/80 has a long tear though no section has been removed completely.
