\'English Farming Past and Present\' is based on an article which appeared in the Quarterly Review for 1885. The article was subsequently expanded into a book, published in 1988 by Messrs. Longman under the title of \'The Pioneers and Progress of English Farming\'. This edition contains twenty chapters with nine appendices, covering farming from the Manorial System of Farming, through to The War and State Control, 1914-18. Published 1922. Third edition.Ex Truro library edition. Pages are yellowed and there are some marks on the pages, but the binding is intact. The hardback cover is shelf-worn and the spine is threadbare in parts, but not detached. There is bumping to the corners and the page edges are browning from age. Fair condition.
