DIRE Trimestriel Printemps-Ete 1963 Nos 4-5 FIRST EDITION
Double issue (Nos 4-5) of DIRE - hand-printed literary and artistic magazine with original tipped-in linocut illustrations including, what appears to be an original red, brief abstract illustration (\'taches de couleur\') by Marie Duvot to Robert Walser\'s short story (see images 2-5 for page examples). Several extended pages are folded in which create added interest. Text in French except for Lawrence Durrell\'s poem \'Ode to a Lukewarm Eyebrow.\' Other artists and contributors include, Andre Verdet; Belon du Mans; Phillipe Dumaine; Jena Joubert; Ernest Haumesser; F.j. Temple; Jean Vodaine; and Jean Kieffer. Published 1963.Good condition for age. No highlighting or notes. Publisher\'s original, illustrated white \'wrap\' softcover shows some wear and yellowing/discolouration, with rubbed edges, spine and corners, and small tear to bottom spine end. Ex-British Library owned with library stamp to front and back of publication. Circa 80 pages. Pages are slightly yellowed although text block and illustrations remain clean and bright. A well-preserved, scarce item.
