Impressive, full calf leather-bound edition of Macaulay’s Two Essays on the Life of Chatham – William Pitt the elder, the Whig statesman and British Prime Minister from 1766-8.In very good condition. Binding is firm. Boards have some wear consistent with age: bumping, scuffing and sunning to the sides. Inscription to the fly leaf suggests this was a presentation gift on graduation from Eton College in the summer of 1912. Ideal as is, or for sympathetic restoration.
