Tomorrow Will Come - E. M. Almedingen
The story of a young girl\'s life in St Petersburg, from early childhood until her departure from Russia in 1922. She was brought up in ever-increasing poverty by her English mother, to whom she was devoted. Her mother died soon after the Bolshevik\'s seized power, and she was left alone and destitute in a city where life became every day more violent and confused. She was then just 20, and an agonising two years followed, when she was always hungry and often ill, having to resort to all sorts of expedients merely to get enough food to stay alive. At last, a friend persuaded her to try to return to her university to continue her studies in medieval history; she was accepted and eventually a loophole of escape was offered.Tomorrow Will Come by E.
