Valour and Sacfrifice The First Indian Soldiers in Europe 1914-1916
The title tells a courageous story, Indians leaving their homeland to fight for the King. The Indian Army during World War I contributed a large number of divisions and independent brigades to the European, Mediterranean, Middle East and African theatres of war in World War I. Over one million Indian troops served overseas, of whom 62,000 died and another 67,000 were wounded. In total at least 74,187 Indian soldiers died during the war. The book is in very good condition. The author has had and has an illustrious career and has found time to put his passion into this subject of military history importance.The author Asoke Kumar Mukerji (born December 1955) is a former Indian diplomat and writer. He was Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations from April 2013 to December 2015and between 2007-10, he was India\'s Deputy High Commissioner to the United Kingdom at London, which is India\'s oldest and largest diplomatic mission. A very nice feature is that inside there is a label showing that the book was given to Baroness Llin Golding with the compliments of Nalin Surie High Commissioner of India 9th September 2010; Foreword is written by the High Commissioner.
