Edition De Luxe, limited 1,000 numbered sets, Dubbed \'the Dickens of the Ghetto\', Israel Zangwill (1864-1926) was best known for his novel Children of the Ghetto and the play The Melting Plot (1980). He championed several causes, including Jewish emancipation, Jewish assimilation, territorialism, Zionism, pacifism, and women\'s suffrage. The coloured illustrations in this set are by the avant garde artist Alfred Wolmark (1877-1961)
