Computing in Medicine
This is the fourth in a series of volumes reporting the proceedings of the Strathclyde Seminars on Bioengineering organized by the Bioengineering Unit at the University of Strathclyde. The purpose of each seminar is to explore in depth a clinically significant problem area in the field of bioengineering. The general theme of this volume, based on the seminar held in August 1981, is the current and future applications of computing in clinical practice. The types of computers considered range from micros through minis to mainframes, with particular emphasis on microcomputers and microprocessors. As well as some of the more obvious uses of computers in data storage and retrieval, and the generation of clinical statistics, many new and original applications in areas such as clinical diagnosis and prognosis, data and signal analysis, information processing and modelling are discussed. All together, over fifty concise papers are reproduced in this volume, as well as reports of workshops and discussions that took place during the seminar.Dust jacket is slightly faded towards the spine, but the book is otherwise as new.
