A first edition of this fully illustrated collection of Goldsmith\'s work, including the \'Vicar of Wakefield\', \'The Traveller\', \'The Deserted Village\', \'The Haunch of Venison\', \'The Captivity: An Oratorio\', \'Retaliation\', \'Miscellaneous Poems\', \'The Good-Natured Man\', and \'She Stoops to Conquer\'. Also includes \'A Sketch of the Life of Oliver Goldsmith\' by H. W. Dulken and one hundred illustrations drawn by George John Pinwell, the British watercolour painter, engraved by the Brothers Dalziel. A hardback in good condition. Blue cloth boards with gilt lettering and decoration and bevel edges. The boards show some shelf wear with rubbing and corner bumping. There is some fading to the spine with fading to gilt and very minor chipping. Pages are generally clean with foxing to some of the early pages. Pages are tight with gilt edges.
