This book was written out of the authors\' conviction that animal bone studies are too often relegated to appendices in archaeological reports. Modern archaeological techniques make it possible to recover thousands of osseous specimens. Deciding what to study, what to observe, and how to summarize the data are jobs often left entirely to the specialist, when in fact the decisions involved require constant interaction between the project director and the animal bone archaeologist. The suggestions offered here are intended to pave the way for better collaboration by clarifying the problems and potential of animal bone studies in archaeology.The book has been read and there are very minor signs of wear and age. Overall the volume is in very good condition, with clean pages and a firm spine.
