Before joining the Royal Ontario Musuem in 1976, she worked as a researcher at the Toronto Board of Education. Mary Jones has taught in Toronto, Greece, and japan. She is now School Services Co-ordinator in the Department of Extension Services at the Royal Ontario Musuem. Her interests are Canadian and Oriental history, and the role of musuems in education.
