This is a fabulous 1 st edition vintage book entitled Designfor Modern Marriage written by John and Rosemary Christopher. It was published in 1958 by Hurst and Blackett Ltd London. The book covers so many aspects of marriage and is really interesting in that it has lots of chapters on setting up home with advice on everything from furniture, decoration, room layouts, soft furnishings, electrical gadgets, decorating etc, etc. The first chapter deals with wedding arrangements but has some great black and white photos of items suggested for wedding presents. So, some really retro 1950s designs of irons, trays, ceramics and TVs. The rest of the book also has numerous photos of room layouts, furniture, lights, cookers, fires, china (a lot of midwinter), everything you can think of that you would need, 8 of the photos are colour. There are 15 chapters and 325 pages in all. So a great book for reference with regard to lifestyle and design of the late 1950s
