The author draws on research and his own extensive work experience in urban districts across the USA to present a convincing case for the pivotal role of high expectations in student achievement. All students are most likely to succeed when leaders, teachers, mentors, and parents communicate that they expect stellar results and then provide the instructional support that’s needed to guarantee academic success. This is an excellent book. Based on the premise that when teachers expect the best from all pupils, they will achieve highly, the book uses vast personal experience and a broad research field to show that high expectations can have a transformational effect.
