From our collection to yours Vans and The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles are two institutions that encourage the expression of creativity, and are committed to making creative expression accessible to everyone. This season, Vans and MOCA are proud to collaborate on a collection of footwear and apparel that celebrates creativity with California roots. In assemblage, multimedia collage, painting, sculpture and installation, LA-based artist Brenna Youngblood takes as her subject the distilling and revising of an alternative Americana as seen through a dry art historical lens. Her work incorporates both autobiographical and fictional narratives to explore the iconography of the African American experience, the methods, politics and ethics of representation, and the legacy of abstraction. Youngblood often integrates found objects and materials into her compositions, imbuing her work with a sensual, tactile quality. The Vans x MOCA Classic Slip-On highlights her unique vision with an allover print inspired by her art. The Vans x MOCA Classic Slip-On is made with sturdy textile uppers.
