Gavi only comes from a tiny production area – just over 1, 000 hectares surrounding the old fortress town, high in the hills of Piedmont. It’s made from the Cortese grape, and it’s known for being a zippy, citrusy, food-friendly white – often compared to Chablis. Our buyers hit the nail on the head with this, which is made with one of the region’s most prestigious producers. Pear. Citrus. Peach. It’s a zesty wine, wonderfully refreshing – and packed with flavour. It’s left on the lees for a short period before it’s bottled which adds a honeyed richness to the texture.
