Georges Lignier inherited a few vines from his father at the turn of the last century. Today, this domaine is in the hands of his grandson, George Jnr, and it continues on its upward trajectory. This is made from Premier Cru vineyards in Volnay, the village known for some of the smoothest red Burgundy going. Expect a perfume of sweet cherry and raspberry fruit with a touch of spice and smoke from oak ageing. The finish is long and complex. Sublime at 18 degrees with roast pork. Will develop over seven years.
