The sun-kissed region of Puglia is the perfect setting for ripening the thick-skinned Zinfandel grape, which is a close relative of Primitivo. The bright sunshine here is tempered by crisp sea breezes. This gives these grapes plenty of time on the vine, and this makes for plenty of flavour. This was produced there by winemaker Danilo Gizzi for the highly acclaimed Farnese winery. It’s full-bodied and full of black-fruit notes. Pair it with red meat, rich game dishes or robust cheeses.
