You might expect that the world\'s most-awarded rye whiskey comes from a distillery with centuries of experience. But Whistle Pig are relative newcomers, starting in 2007. Behind each bottle is over 20 acres of maple trees, which are used for syrup, and an expert in the art – master distiller Dave Pickerell, who worked for 14 years at Maker\'s Mark. This distillery searched the globe to find the finest casks for this whiskey and settled on those from Sauternes, Porto and Madeira. It\'s deliciously complex, with flavours of orange peel, oak, star anise, caramel, vanilla and butterscotch. Wine Enthusiast gave it 96 points.
