Classic Military Vehicle Driving Day in Dorset
Driving Experience Days: Military vehicles have come a long way in the last seventy
years. Whereas now the Army uses the sleek FV4034 Challenger 2 and
the speedy FV510 Warrior, in the good old days there was none of
the fancy technology we have now. Instead, drivers had to use brute
force to control these utilitarian machines. With the Military
Vehicle Driving Day experience in Dorset, you\'ll have the
opportunity to sit behind two heavyweight military vehicles from
the 1950\'s and 60\'s, feeling exactly what the soldiers of years
gone by experienced during battle.
The military driving day begins on arrival at the award-winning track, where
you\'ll greet your instructor and be introduced to the rest of the
group. Your first drive will involve a short familiarisation loop
to get you used to the controls, before hitting the circuit for a
full 10/15 minute lap. Once everyone has had a turn, you\'ll swap
back and drive the lap again, allowing plenty of time to fully
appreciate the vehicles and the burly power at your fingertips.
Once the two laps are completed, you\'ll repeat the process with the
other vehicles! Throughout the session you\'ll get behind the wheel
of a Land Rover 101 Forward Control ex artillery tractor and a
Humber Armored Personnel Carrier mark 1.
This driving experience is perfect for fans of unusual vehicles,
or history buffs who want to see what life was like as a 1950\'s
member of the British Army. A great driving gift for dads, or just
as a totally unique way to spend a morning in the countryside!
