Ketostix Reagent Strips for Urinalysis provide a quick, efficient and convenient way of testing for the presence and concentration of ketone bodies (Acetoacetic Acid) in the urine. When present in the urine, this substance provides information relating to carbohydrate and fat metabolism and reacts with the chemicals on the Ketostix Reagent Strips in order to indicate the presence of ketones. The concentration is measured by the colour rendered by the reaction, more information regarding this can be found in the patient information leaflet enclosed with the product. To use, dip the chemical end of the reagent strips into the urine and wait for the reaction. The colour recorded will give an idea as to the level of ketones in the urine.
