What is GoldenEye chloramphenicol eye ointment?nGoldenEye chloramphenicol eye ointment contains the active ingredient chloramphenicol which is a broad spectrum antibiotic used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis.nHow do I use chloramphenicol eye drops?nFor adults and children aged 2 years and over - Apply about 1cm of ointment to the affected eye(s) 3-4 times per day for a 5 day course of treatment. If you are using the chlroamphenicol eye drops during the day and the eye ointment at night, apply the ointment at night before going to bed.nWarningsnA child below the age of 2 with an eye infection should be seen by a doctor.nDo not use this product if you:nare allergic to chloramphenicol or any of the ingredients in this medicinenhave ever had problems with your blood (in particular a very low number of blood cells) during treatment with chloramphenicolnhave a family history of blood problems; such as low white blood cell, red blood cell or platelet counts.nDo not use this product and contact your doctor if:nYour eye sight is affectednYou have pain within the eyenYour eye has suffered a blow or other injurynYour eye is inflamed and you have a rash on your scalp or facenThe pupil of the eye looks unusual or the eye looks cloudynYour eyes are sensitive to lightnYou have (or think you have) a foreign body in your eye which has not been removed.nYou have recently had an eye infectionnYou suffer from, or have ever suffered from, glaucoma or dry eye syndromenYou wear contact lenses. If you wear contact lenses and your lense practitioner or doctor has advised you use this product, do not wear your lenses during the course of treatment, wear your glasses instead. Soft contact lenses should not be replaced for 24 hours after completeing the treatmentnYou are using other eye drops or eye ointmentnYou have had eye surgery or laser treatment in the last 6 monthsnOther medicines and GoldenEye chloramphenicol eye ointment.nIf you are taking bone marrow depressant medicines (medicines which decrease the activity of the bone marrow, causing low blood cell counts) such as azathioprine or receiving chemotherapy, seek the advise of a doctor or pharmacist before using this priduct.nIf you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast feeding tell your doctor or pharmacist before using this product.nGoldenEye chloramphenicol ointment can blur your vision so do not drive or operate machinery until your vision is clear.nKeep out of the reach of children.nAlways read the patient information leaflet before taking any medication.
