Vesta Asteroid Vesta (minor-planet designation: 4 Vesta) is the brightest asteroid in the solar system and is often visible from Earth with the naked eye. It’s the second-largest object in the asteroid belt and was the first to be visited by a spacecraft in the asteroid belt (The Dawn Mission). MOVA has taken the satellite images from NASA, to create a topographic globe of the Vesta asteroid. Brilliant blue and green tones are mixed with deep reds to show the various elevations and terrain of the famed asteroid. Red hues show a higher elevation while blue shows the lower areas.
