Preventing Medication Errors
Based on a study conducted by the Institute of Medicine, this report considers the problem of medication errors and suggests how the incidence of these mistakes--costly in terms of both dollars and human lives--may be reduced. The study addressed the use of prescription and over-the-counter drugs as well as complementary and alternative medications in care settings ranging from hospitals to long term care centers and the larger community. Action agendas are detailed for all stakeholders, including consumers, care providers, payers, industry, and government. Annotation ©2007 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
