A combination of light, geometry and style: the floor lamp Balancer The designers Weng Xinyu and Tao Haiyue, who are originally from China, are Bauhaus graduates and live and work in Berlin today. For the Norwegian designer light manufacturer Northern Lighting, they designed the floor lamp Balancer which symbolises the fusion of geometric shapes, perfect functionality and an elegant and puristic style. So that the spherical lamp head, which emits both targeted and diffuse light, can be inclined, changing the height of the light, the cylindrical base is designed as a heavy counterweight to make sure that the light does not over turn and always balances – as its name suggests. A linear design and round shapes here and there, e.g. on the lamp head and on the connection between the stationary base and the pivotable arm, produce a harmonious blend of shapes which are clear and yet not too hard.
