La Cantina
This typical rural farmhouse is located in the town of Umbertide, which is part of the countryside between Umbria and Tuscany. The estate, which is also a working farm, spreads over an area of approximately 50 hectares which consists mostly of vineyards with the remainder dedicated to grain crops. The estate contains an eighteenth-century villa and three rural homes. These old buildings have been completely restored and divided into 10 elegant and comfortable apartments all with the charm of an Umbrian house, with brick, stone and wooden beams. The owner, who is of noble descent, grows and produces wines such as DOC and IGT wines, which you can sample on the spot. Sangiovese is predominant in the vineyards, accompanied by international grapes such as Cabernet, Sauvignon, Merlot and Sagrantino. You have access to a common area in the main building (including a reading room) which is equipped with a TV and sofas. Additional facilities of the estate include a wonderful swimming pool with accompanying chairs. From the pool you can enjoy a picturesque hilly landscape overlooking vineyards, olive groves, sunflowers and woodland. The estate also has a small bar / cafe where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast. There is even a simple but nice restaurant where you can sample local wines along with the classic dishes of the Umbrian cuisine. Other amenities of the estate include a common barbecue, laundry room and separate playroom for (small) children. The owner organizes, upon request, regular cooking classes and wine tastings.
