A very elegant polar bear rocker that takes up the pure lines of the sculptures of the artist Pompon, a contemporary of Rodin. With his small portable workbench, the sculptor François Pompon (1855-1933) liked to walk around the Jardin des Plantes (a natural history museum) in Paris. There he could observe animals and make small-scale models. Back in his studio he sculpted bears, panthers, but also dogs, chickens and rabbits, simplifying the shapes to fi nd the essence of each animal. His sculptures have been re-interpreted by the artist Gérard Lo Monaco, and in cooperation with the RMN and the Musée d’Orsay, Vilac pays homage to this brilliant artist by making this magnifi cent polar bear rocker, which will be a lovely addition to the most beautiful interiors.
