Cymalon is indicated for the relief of symptoms due to cystitis in adult females only. It contains Sodium Bicarbonate which increases the alkali reserve of the plasma and increases excretion of urine, which is rendered less acidic. It also contains Sodium Citrate which also used to make the urine alkaline in the treatment of urinary tract infections. Sodium citrate works by reducing the acidity of the urine this in turn reduces any burning sensations when passing urine. It also creates a more difficult environment for the bacteria that causes cystitis and so helps to treat the problem.
