This mixed media artwork is exclusive to Curious Egg and part of a small collection of originals by emerging artist Daria Zadarnowska. Each work has been created as a kind of sculptural tablet with layers of encaustic wax, varnish, imagery and botancials . It’s surface has been handworked to encase delicate imagery and symbolic plants. Daria’s work has a contemplative, spiritual quality that reaches beyond her own personal religious faith. The translucent quality of the surface of each work gives it a delicate shell-like surface that seems to act as a symbol for the human body and the free spirit it contains. “The botanicals I use in my work, represent the growth of my faith in me. These combined with the imagery within layers of encaustic wax represent beauty of life but also the fragility of a human spirit. I consider plants and flowers as living, growing species that have to be nurtured just as we do.” Daria Zadarnowska
