Over a decade ago I stumbled across Falsa blankets in a market down some back street in the outskirts of Mexico City. I could not resist buying four of these beautiful blankets I have now learned are actually called Mexican Falsa Blankets. There is a real quality to them. While not particularly heavy, they are robust and well made. Despite the difficulty in stuffing three of them into my single suitcase, and having to nonchalantly wear one the entire flight home, I have no regrets. Several houses (and two continents) later, and having taken a severe beating along the way from kids, beaches, dogs, wet grass, red wine, and mayonnaise I can personally attest to their rugged durability. They are gorgeous too. Enough of the \'ethnic\' to prove you do occasionally venture out, but stylish enough to be cool just about anywhere. These traditional hand loomed Mexican falsa blankets are available in a variety of colours. They specialise in unusual and interesting gifts. In this day and age of anodyne, cloned town high streets, it is good to see they have a vibrant, colourful presence with a wide range of unique and colourful handcrafted and fair trade items.
