There is an tactile elegance to this chess set that is rare to find. The board which doubles as a case is beautifully finished re-purposed teak wood inlaid with soapstone squares. The chess pieces are so exquisitely detailed it is a testament to the artisans who hand carve each and every one of them. The large chess set is, in short, a wooden hinged chess box with soapstone board on top and double metal clasp fastening. Contains full set of carved soapstone chess pieces carefully stored inside in a moulded, velvet covered inner, designed to keep each piece separately cushioned.
