We jumped at the chance to order some late-release mature stock direct from the cellars of Mas Janeil. This has a dark brick-red appearance, and a beautifully mellow yet complex aroma of dried cherries, seasoned oak, milk chocolate, black truffle, vanilla spice, soy sauce and leather-bound books. Smooth and succulent in the mouth, it reveals further flavours of wild blackberries, pine forest, gingerbread, molasses and coconut cream. A gorgeous, mature wine from a classic French region - and a bargain!
