Classic Pauillac cedar and blackcurrant aromas combine with deliciously succulent texture and silky tannins, making this a delicious wine to enjoy immediately and over the next 7-8 years. Recognised for quality in the 1855 classification of Bordeaux, Grand Puy Ducasse experienced decades of neglect before investment in both vineyard and cellar has massively improved the wine. Happily, prices have not yet caught up with the quality, making this one of today\'s best value \'cru classé\' Pauillacs. The vineyard covers an area of 45 hectares of desirable free-draining gravelly soil, situated near the illustrious Lafite-Rothschild, Mouton-Rothschild and Batailley. The vines are approximately two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and one-third Merlot: these proportions are reflected (with some variation) in the finished wine, which is matured in small oak barrels (around one-third are first fill) for 18 months before bottling.
